This week at Heathside has been full of energy, learning, and a lot of pedaling! Our Year 5 pupils have been taking part in their Bikeability course, and it has been fantastic to watch them develop such an important life skill.

Over the course of the program, students grew in confidence day by day, mastering not only their cycling skills but also gaining independence and road awareness that will serve them well beyond the classroom. Seeing the children navigate safely around Hampstead, making decisions on the road and working together to look out for one another, was inspiring.

Our Year 5s approached the course with enthusiasm, determination, and a genuine sense of achievement. Whether tackling tricky junctions, signaling confidently, or simply enjoying the freedom of riding, each student showed growth that extends far beyond the bike. We are incredibly proud of their efforts and can’t wait to see them put their new skills into practice safely on the roads around them.

Cycling is more than a skill—it’s a path to independence, confidence, and fun!
