At Heathside, our students are discovering the joy of nature while learning the importance of sustainability. During their time at Heath School, children from different year groups explored the outdoors in unique and meaningful ways.

Year 4 students showed fantastic teamwork and care for the environment during a litter-picking activity. Armed with gloves and determination, they helped tidy the Heath, making it a cleaner and more enjoyable space for everyone. Special praise goes to Tommy, whose enthusiasm and perseverance ensured that not a single piece of litter was left behind. It was inspiring to see how small acts of care can make a big difference, while also teaching the children the value of responsibility and working together.

Meanwhile, Year 1 students engaged with nature in a more artistic way. They placed paper against tree trunks and used crayons to create bark rubbings, uncovering the intricate textures and patterns hidden in the trees. This hands-on activity encouraged close observation and sparked creativity, allowing the children to connect with the natural world in a personal and memorable way.

Whether through caring for the environment or discovering its hidden details, these experiences at Heath School highlight the importance of sustainability and environmental awareness. At Heathside, we are proud to see our learners enjoying the outdoors, working together, and developing a lifelong respect for nature—learning that looking after our world can be both fun and meaningful.
