Our Headteacher, Nadia Ward, recently featured in the Education Choices Magazine’s Education Corner Podcast sharing insights into life at Heathside School Hampstead.
Nadia also shared information about her personal drivers for a career in education.
“I am from a family of teachers on my fathers side. It’s something that as a small child that really appealed to me. When I was little I used to role play in my bedroom with all my toys and I was always the teacher. I knew that I always needed a vocation – and a job for life – and it is the best job in the world. It’s fun, it’s creative and I genuinely get to shape children’s lives.
One of the most wonderful things about being a teacher is when children come and visit so I’m fortunate enough as I’ve been teaching for 24 years that children now come back as young adults to visit me or send photos of what they’re doing and recently I was sent a photo of a young man who recently finished his Bar exams in Hong Kong. He was standing outside the court in his gown and wig, ready to go off to court. It’s wonderful to see how I’ve been a small part in shaping children’s lives.”
